Some recoil at the very idea of meditation, but none can deny the beneficial effects it has on human energetic framework.
It offers reintegration of the mind, body and soul. It relays kinship to the seemingly invisible.
Whatever reflections the body, mind and emotions present in response, is fascinating to say the least!
Meditation can be achieved both in stillness, and in action. It is an intentional act that has the power to come alive whenever summoned.
You see, meditation is a state of Being. It infiltrates everyday life with emulations of mindfulness (or emptiness according to other references).
Its effects are endless and can result in feeling centred, connected and complete.
Meditation is a wonderful gift to honour yourself with.
Indeed, who enjoys sleeplessness, restless anxiety, emotional disconnection, irritability, and somatic aches and pains, to name a few ailments associated with disconnection?
With meditation these states of being are met and greeted, not rejected, but instead acknowledged as a route to follow that facilitates in bringing them to light and Love.
I like to offer prayer at the beginning and end of a meditation session. One prayer celebrating ‘my’ existence, and another prayer for all Being that exists.
Meditation is a highly personal experience and as such, it would be unwise here to prescribe a one-size-fits-all agenda. I invite you to explore and research different styles and types of meditation to find a method that resonates. Stay with the preferred method, until it stops having the original effect. Then, stay with it some more - keep going anyway! This is a form of medicine that needs dedication for its supply. Patience, discipline and humility are requested when we bring life to compassionate meditation. We present Loving intention to make peace with All that Is. Lend your heart, not just your head.
Begin to build a minimum five minute ritual to drop into each and every day. Permit yourself to bring intention to fruition, in the same way you are driven to dress, nourish your body and even brush your teeth every day. Seek loving Intention, not fearful repulsion.
Make a promise, that dialling into yourself is a matter of great importance by means of individual and collectively responsible definitions.
Disciplining ourselves by constructing new behavioural ways of existing, is far from simple. Moments of frustration, distraction, agitation, discomfort can and do show up - frequently at first. A talkative, over-energised ego-mind can often cast a shadow over the sanctity of Being. Emotions randomly arise and fall away again. Pain in the right knee can pull awareness to itself. Mentally investigating the contents of the fridge and cupboards to assess what meal can be brought to life for dinner tonight, or ruminating over an unresolved argument, or questioning whether a response has been made to an e-mail sent earlier - these are amusing itineraries that ego produces in all its glorious splendour.
Agitations and frustrations abound, but the Will of the Soul and spirit are far stronger than the productive will of one person, and one person alone.
I advise engendering a good sense of humour. Learning is made much easier and fulfilling if we enjoy ourselves. Give yourself permission to let joy and curiosity enter you. Laugh at what comes up. Laughter releases hormones designed to make us feel good and safe. Crying, anger and procrastination arrive too - each a message for investigation. Imagine we are children in play. Allow the element of surprise to move within you. Allow an awe-inspiring Love to saturate whatever shows up.
Then take a deep inhalation for patient Centred-ness. Reconnect with the effort you make to improve relationships with yourself, others and life in general.
Not working for you yet?
Dust yourself down ... Then try again.
Try again in compassion. Realise that when agitation and frustration are in full effect, ask not how you try to resist, but instead how peace can be brought to the way in which you perceive these experiences of agitation and frustration.
Over time, meditation can become an act of ritual in connective prayer. An expression where Sacred Love intentionally flows between a seeming-sole soul, and greater bodies of energy*. Like a flame passing light from one candle to the next, we belong to a lineage of Beings exceeding identity that build bridges, and not walls.
Offering processes and captive insights to the light, invites transmutation to take place. Healing becomes the teacher and we must surrender the heavier energies in faith that a Greater Love will receive, transform and participate in the refinement of Being.
We now see accountability of the part we play individually and as a whole. We are choosing peace over war. We are leading by example, not chasing the pitch of a high-octane lifestyle (and all the catastrophic occurrences that result from living out of alignment). We are now listening into presence and breathing colours of Truth into Being.
Meditation.
Find time.
Make time.
No time like the present!
